Overview

Tental does have a very small however useful niche. It's a pure mental type with access to Madness Buff (+ other nice moves), a respectable special attack stat, and an unique trait in Avenger. It's defensive stats are not completely awful either. It has better physical bulk than Barnshe and Kinu, and a similar one to Adoroboros and Pocus (not that those tems are good metrics in this regard, but you get my point). Besides avenger, the main reason to use instead of it's fully evolved counterpart is its pure mental typing. Tental is not deleted by electric attacks and it's also not afraid of toxic and nature moves.
